Proctor’s offices of Town Clerk and Town Treasurer are held by Mary Dahlin. As the Town Clerk, her statutory duties range from recording, preserving and certifying public documents to administering oaths of office, complying with public information requests, running the local elections, maintaining the grand list, and issuing marriage licenses and licensing animals.
As Treasurer, Mrs. Dahlin is responsible for keeping the town’s accounts, investing money received by the town (with the approval of the legislative body), keeping a record of the taxes voted and paying orders drawn on her by officials authorized by law to draw orders on town accounts. She works with the independent auditors to settle town accounts prior to the annual meeting, and she is provides the Selectboard with information about town finances. Mrs. Dahlin also serves as the collector of current and delinquent taxes, and acts as the school treasurer.
Mrs. Dahlin is assisted in her duties by Rhoda Grace, the Assistant Town Clerk/Treasurer.
